IAS Vandana Singh Chauhan hails from Nasrullahgarh, Haryana. She received her education in a girls’ Gurukul near Moradabad. After completing her intermediate studies, she pursued a degree in law. During this time, she also started preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination. Vandana Chauhan did not take any coaching for her preparations. She used to study for 12-14 hours every day. Vandana Singh Chauhan achieved success in her first attempt. At the age of 24, in the year 2012, she fulfilled her dream of becoming an IAS officer by securing the 8th rank in the All India examination. Vandana Singh Chauhan in Uttarakhand
IAS Vandana Singh Chauhan has also served as the Chief Development Officer of Pithoragarh. In 2017, she became the first female Sub-Divisional Magistrate of the district. Until 2020, she provided her services in Pithoragarh. During this time, she was also the brand ambassador for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) campaign. In 2020, she was initially appointed as the District Magistrate of Rudraprayag but was later transferred to the Personnel Department of the government. Then, on November 12, she was appointed as the Managing Director of KMVN. When she did not take the appointment, she was made the Additional Secretary of Rural Development. In 2021, she became the District Magistrate of Almora. Now, in 2023, she has become the 48th District Magistrate of Nainital.
